The story behind the artwork

"Together We Thrive: A Tapestry of Unity" is an Aboriginal contemporary masterpiece that weaves together the stories and spirits of the LGBTQIA+ community with those of various other communities, illustrating a harmonious coexistence enriched by diversity.
At the core of the design, interlocking patterns symbolise the interconnectedness of all individuals, regardless of their backgrounds or identities. These patterns draw inspiration from my Ancestors symbolism of people and journey, reimagined to represent the modern tapestry of society. It is vibrant, full of life, and essential to the integrity and beauty of the whole.
Surrounding the artwork, is a message of walking together, signifying the rippling effect of love and acceptance through communities. These journey lines are filled with a kaleidoscope of colors, each one representing different aspects of the LGBTQIA+ flag, symbolising pride, diversity, and the spectrum of human identity.
Incorporated throughout the artwork are symbols of thriving life – from native flora representing growth and resilience, to fauna symbolising the vitality and diversity of life. These elements are not just adornments but integral parts of the narrative, showcasing how every creature and plant plays a role in the ecosystem of humanity, contributing to a world where everyone can thrive.
The background is a blend of blue tones and vibrant hues, mirroring the safety of a welcoming community. This choice serves as a reminder of the importance of respecting and protecting the land that nurtures all forms of life and the cultural heritage that informs our present.

I’m Alejandro Lauren, also known as Wayde Clarke. Alejandro is my alter ego—a part of me that allows me to be loud and proud. I created them to break out of my comfort zone, to step into a space where I can truly shine, pushing past my own boundaries and embracing the fabulous person we all are.
My art is deeply tied to the human experience and emotion. I believe that the one thing that connects us all is how we navigate life’s challenges—how we cope, manage, and share our stories. Through my work, I’ve learned to embrace vulnerability, sharing my own experiences and stories in the hope that others might see themselves reflected in my art. I want my work to help people connect, relate, and even heal, just as it has done for me.
