The story behind the artwork

Go with the Flow

Sometimes the strongest thing we can do is stop fighting the current.

Go with the Flow is about perseverance, resilience and determination, but not in the way we are so often taught. It is not about pushing until there is nothing left. It is about learning when to move, when to pause, and when to let the current carry you for a while.

There are moments in life where we can spend all our energy swimming against what is happening around us, only to realise we were always going to arrive where we needed to be. This work is a reminder to listen to your body, trust what it is telling you, and allow yourself the rest you need so you can return as the best version of yourself.

The ocean-like movement throughout the painting reflects that idea of flow. Currents shift, water moves around obstacles, and nothing stays still forever. Yet it keeps going. There is strength in that softness, and resilience in allowing yourself to move with life rather than against it.

For me, this piece is about trusting that resting is not giving up. Slowing down is not failure. Sometimes perseverance looks like continuing forward, and sometimes it looks like knowing when to let yourself float.

Alejandro Lauren

I’m Alejandro Lauren, also known as Wayde Clarke. Alejandro is my alter ego a part of me that allows me to be loud and proud. I created them to break out of my comfort zone, to step into a space where I can truly shine, pushing past my own boundaries and embracing the fabulous person we all are.

My art is deeply tied to the human experience and emotion. I believe that the one thing that connects us all is how we navigate life’s challenges how we cope, manage, and share our stories. Through my work, I’ve learned to embrace vulnerability, sharing my own experiences and stories in the hope that others might see themselves reflected in my art. I want my work to help people connect, relate, and even heal, just as it has done for me.

Each piece is a journey of colour, emotion, and meaning, celebrating life, culture, and the power of human connection. I invite you to explore my art, and I hope it resonates with you on a personal level.

Thank you for stopping by, and I hope my work brings you as much healing and inspiration as it has brought me.
