The story behind the artwork

Land and Sea explores the harmony between water and Country, the way our landscapes breathe together, connect, and sustain life. Flowing forms and layered pathways move throughout the piece like rivers meeting the ocean, tidal movements, and the unseen energy that exists between land, sky, and sea.

The organic shapes represent places of gathering, reflection, and connection, while the vibrant colours celebrate the richness and diversity of our natural environments, from deep waters and wetlands to bushland and earth. Circular elements symbolise cycles, movement, and the ongoing relationship we share with nature and one another.

This work is a reminder that land and sea are never separate; they exist in balance, nurturing life, story, memory, and belonging.

Alejandro Lauren

I’m Alejandro Lauren, also known as Wayde Clarke. Alejandro is my alter ego a part of me that allows me to be loud and proud. I created them to break out of my comfort zone, to step into a space where I can truly shine, pushing past my own boundaries and embracing the fabulous person we all are.

My art is deeply tied to the human experience and emotion. I believe that the one thing that connects us all is how we navigate life’s challenges how we cope, manage, and share our stories. Through my work, I’ve learned to embrace vulnerability, sharing my own experiences and stories in the hope that others might see themselves reflected in my art. I want my work to help people connect, relate, and even heal, just as it has done for me.

Each piece is a journey of colour, emotion, and meaning, celebrating life, culture, and the power of human connection. I invite you to explore my art, and I hope it resonates with you on a personal level.

Thank you for stopping by, and I hope my work brings you as much healing and inspiration as it has brought me.
