The story behind the artwork

Who We Are explores the connections that define us the essence of who we become through love, friendship, and belonging. This piece reflects on how our sense of self shapes the way we move through the world and the people we invite to walk beside us.

The flowing forms and layered colours symbolise the relationships that mould us those who lift us, challenge us, and help us grow. Every brushstroke captures the balance between individuality and connection, reminding us that the people we surround ourselves with often mirror the parts of us we most need to see.

At its heart, Who We Are is a celebration of human connection: the friends who become family, the lessons that shape our journey, and the beauty of allowing ourselves to be truly seen. It invites viewers to reflect on their own relationships to honour the bonds that bring warmth, growth, and meaning to our lives.

Alejandro Lauren

I’m Alejandro Lauren, also known as Wayde Clarke. Alejandro is my alter ego a part of me that allows me to be loud and proud. I created them to break out of my comfort zone, to step into a space where I can truly shine, pushing past my own boundaries and embracing the fabulous person we all are.

My art is deeply tied to the human experience and emotion. I believe that the one thing that connects us all is how we navigate life’s challenges how we cope, manage, and share our stories. Through my work, I’ve learned to embrace vulnerability, sharing my own experiences and stories in the hope that others might see themselves reflected in my art. I want my work to help people connect, relate, and even heal, just as it has done for me.

Each piece is a journey of colour, emotion, and meaning, celebrating life, culture, and the power of human connection. I invite you to explore my art, and I hope it resonates with you on a personal level.

Thank you for stopping by, and I hope my work brings you as much healing and inspiration as it has brought me.
