The story behind the artwork

We’ve all done it.

You wake up and reach for your phone before your feet have even touched the floor. You tell yourself it’s just five minutes. Then suddenly it’s two hours later, the laundry is still judging you, the emails remain unanswered, and your life admin has quietly filed for abandonment.

Doom Scroll captures that hilariously human moment when we know we should get up, go to bed, clean the house or do literally anything productive, but the couch is comfortable, the algorithm knows us too well, and we’re deep in the scroll with a little tits out, ass out energy.

Part of the Moments in Life collection, this original painting celebrates the messy, funny and painfully relatable rituals that make us human. It’s cheeky, honest and full of affection for the version of us who says “five more minutes” while knowing perfectly well that time has lost all meaning.

A small original artwork for anyone who has ever procrastinated the life admin, ignored bedtime, or looked up from their phone wondering where the evening went.

Because sometimes the most relatable moments deserve to become art.

Alejandro Lauren

I’m Alejandro Lauren, also known as Wayde Clarke. Alejandro is my alter ego a part of me that allows me to be loud and proud. I created them to break out of my comfort zone, to step into a space where I can truly shine, pushing past my own boundaries and embracing the fabulous person we all are.

My art is deeply tied to the human experience and emotion. I believe that the one thing that connects us all is how we navigate life’s challenges how we cope, manage, and share our stories. Through my work, I’ve learned to embrace vulnerability, sharing my own experiences and stories in the hope that others might see themselves reflected in my art. I want my work to help people connect, relate, and even heal, just as it has done for me.

Each piece is a journey of colour, emotion, and meaning, celebrating life, culture, and the power of human connection. I invite you to explore my art, and I hope it resonates with you on a personal level.

Thank you for stopping by, and I hope my work brings you as much healing and inspiration as it has brought me.
